Qibla Direction Finder
Find the Qibla direction, Qibla angle, and approximate compass degree by choosing a city or entering latitude and longitude.
Qibla angle = atan2(sin(Δlongitude) × cos(Kaaba latitude), cos(latitude) × sin(Kaaba latitude) - sin(latitude) × cos(Kaaba latitude) × cos(Δlongitude))
The calculation is based on the great-circle initial bearing angle between the user's latitude/longitude and the Kaaba coordinates. Magnetic declination is assumed to be 0 by default.
This result is for informational purposes. For precise Qibla determination, a reliable map, calibrated compass, or measurement by an authorized institution/expert should be preferred.
How Qibla Direction Is Calculated
Qibla direction is calculated as the initial great-circle bearing between your location and the Kaaba coordinates. The result is shown as degrees clockwise from north, which can be used with a compass.
- City presets give a quick estimate.
- Custom coordinates improve location precision.
- Magnetic declination adjusts the compass reading.
Using the Qibla Angle With a Compass
Compass apps read 0 degrees as north. Turn clockwise to the calculated Qibla angle to find the approximate direction. Phone compasses can be affected by metal objects, magnets, vehicles, and indoor interference.
